Apple is big on security and making sure all of your information is safe, but two Oregon students have exposed the company has a lot of work to do when it comes to its return policy scamming the tech giant out of nearly a million dollars.
Two foreign students Quan Jiang and Yangyangg Zhou here on visas reportedly received shipments of counterfeit iPhones from China. The bootleg smartphones which easily passed for the real versions of the phone were then returned to Apple and exchanged for working replacements.

The scam surprisingly worked with Jian and Zhou according to reports sending Apple 2,000 fake phones claiming they were defective models. The company didn’t exchange all of the counterfeit phones but did replace over 1,400 of the iPhones. Apple reportedly lost up to $900,000 due to them falling for the jig. It took a while, but Apple and customs eventually caught on.

The two students were making off like fat cats because the knockoffs only cost around $30. When Zhou’s house was raided, authorities found over 300 bootleg iPhones. Now both men are facing a range of charges including wire fraud, trafficking knockoff goods, and false customs declarations. Zhou’s attorney’s claims his client had no knowledge of the scam and that Jiang was the “mastermind” behind the whole thing despite evidence being found in his residence.

Back in April, we reported on the eye-opening scheme involving two Oregon students who somehow exposed Apple’s struggle return policy and scamming the company of nearly a million dollars. Now one of those students has pleaded guilty for his part in the operation.

Quan Jiang, a Chinese national and former engineering student copped to one count of trafficking in counterfeit goods that hoodwinked Apple out of 1,500 iPhones. Jiang spilled the beans to investigators breaking down how he was regularly sent 20-30 broken handsets and then taking them to Apple to trade them in either in person or online for working units claiming they won’t power on abusing the company’s warranty program.

Jiang would then ship the working iPhones back to China where they would be sold for hundreds of dollars and get a cut of the take. The money would be given to his mother where she would deposit the funds into his account. Despite using different aliases to carry out his dubious scheme, according to court documents, Apple noticed that Jiang actually used either his name, email address, mailing address, or IP address on 3,069 warranty claims.

Out of those 3,069 claims 1,576 of them were denied, Jiang was still able to obtain a jaw-dropping 1,493 replacement iPhones from Apple. If you do the math, each handset costs $600, and that comes out to $900,000 in losses to the company that Steve Jobs built.

Jiang is looking at up to 10 years in prison and a $2 million fine or twice the money he scored while carrying out the scheme depending on which is more significant. As part of his plea, he must also pay back Apple $200,000 in restitution for swindling the company. He is scheduled to be sentenced in late August, we bet he wished there was an app that could make this all go away right now.

Apple Recent Filings "Confirms" Three New iPhone Models

Source: Chesnot / Getty

This shouldn’t really come as a shocker, but according to the ever so reliable site 9to5Mac, Apple has just filed model numbers for three new handsets the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max and an upgraded version of the iPhone XR.

The Apple news source reports this news with the utmost confidence being that Apple devices always show up in the Eurasian Economic Commission regulatory database usually ahead of their official announcements and releases. According to the website the 2019 iPhone models reportedly showed up in this group of model numbers A2111, A2160, A2161, A2215, A2216, A2217, A2218, A2219, A2220, A2221, and A2223.

Models A2220, A2221, and A2223 more than likely represent the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max, and the upgraded XR model. Rumors are already swirling about the handsets with leaks of its new design and specs getting Apple fanatics talking and cringing at the phones new triple camera design.

Per 9to5Mac:

This year’s iPhones are expected to largely feature the same outside appearance as the 2018 iPhone flagships, although Apple may switch to a more matte finish for the back glass. In addition to upgrades like bilateral wireless charging for AirPods and the more powerful Apple A13 chip, it looks like the 2019 iPhones will focus on camera upgrades.

Apple is adding an extra camera to both the XR and the XS; the 2019 iPhone XR will feature a dual-camera module and the iPhone 11 and 11 Max will feature a triple-camera system for the first time. The iPhone will seemingly include a larger, square camera bump to accommodate the new cameras.

The additional lens in the triple-camera system is believed to be an ultra-wide camera made by Sony, expanding the range of zoom available in the iPhone Camera app. Apple may also use computer vision technology to blend data from each of the three cameras together to take more-detailed photos at a standard zoom level. The front-facing camera will also be upgraded to take better quality shots.

Apple is currently playing catch up with Samsung and Google, whose current flagship phone models are ahead of the curve with their new camera systems. You can expect Apple to pull the lid off its new iPhones at a fall media event sometime in September.

Apple Reportedly Launching Updated Mid-Range iPhone SE Model In 2020

Source: Anadolu Agency / Getty

All the buzz is currently being directed at the iPhone Pro or iPhone 11 whatever Apple is going to call it. But word on the tech streets is the company is planning on bringing back it’s mid-range SE model in 2020.

Yup, you read correctly the company that Jobs built is already thinking about what it is planning on doing next year when it comes to its ridiculously popular smartphone. According to a new report from Nikkei, Apple will be relaunching the mid-range iPhone SE model it initially scrapped back in 2018. The company hopes that it will offset the sales decline it saw in regions like China and India.

According to reports, it will look similar to the 4.7-inch iPhone 8 model that launched back in 2018. It will have sport an LCD screen, a single-lens rear camera, 128GB of storage as well as some of the components from higher-end iPhone models that are dropping this year.

Per Nikkei:

The new model would be Apple’s first low-cost smartphone since the launch of the iPhone SE in 2016, which started at $399. Though the name and price of the new model haven’t been decided, it is viewed as the latest generation of the iPhone SE.

The decision to revive the lower-cost model comes amid a rough patch for the iPhone. Apple reported its first-ever decline in iPhone shipments for last year, and this summer it lost the title of No. 2 smartphone maker to Huawei. The U.S. company also has suffered two straight quarters of shipment and market share drops this year, according to IDC data. The global smartphone industry overall also faces its third consecutive annual decline in 2019, according to IDC projections.

We expect to hear more details about the phone at Apple’s upcoming September 10 event. Stay tuned, we will be delivering all of the details from the event.

Apple Reportedly Will Release A "Completely Wireless" iPhone In 2021

Source: SOPA Images / Getty

Apple is continuously trying to find ways to improve on its flagship smartphone, the iPhone. Apple whisperer, Ming-Chi Kuo is predicting that the tech giant’s 2021 iPhone will be completely wireless.

According to 9To5Mac, Kuo (who is usually right) predicts that Apple will kill the Lightning charging port on the iPhone by 2021. This means that Apple is looking to give iPhone owners a “completely wireless experience.” by doing away with the Lightning port that has been featured on its devices since 2013 when it was introduced on the iPhone 5.

Per 9To5Mac:

“In 2021, Kuo is predicting a followup to the iPhone SE 2 as well as a new iPhone model without Lightning connectivity. Kuo says that this would “provide the completely wireless experience,” meaning there would be no ports at all rather than a switch to USB-C from Lightning.”

“Kuo implies that Apple only plans to remove the Lightning port from the “highest-end model” at first, rather than from the entire iPhone lineup at once. Kuo says.”

This development is eyebrow-raising because Apple failed to deliver its long-rumored wireless “AirPower” charging mat. So does this mean Apple hasn’t given up on the accessory?

Other announcements from Kuo include the iPhone SE 2 in 2020 that will feature a 4.7-inch LCD screen. Plus four 5G OLED iPhones as well. We shall see if his predictions will come to pass, and chances are very high they will.

Apple Reportedly Working On Cheaper & Smaller iPhone

Source: SOPA Images / Getty

If you are one of those people who want a new iPhone but just can’t stomach the price of the iPhone 11 or Pro Max, this news might sit well with you. According to reports, Apple is working on a cheaper and smaller iPhone model.

Bloomberg is reporting the company will start working on a new low-cost iPhone in February, which will be a first for Apple since the iPhone SE. The report also indicates that Apple will officially unveil the device in March. Rumors began swirling about the affordable iPhone last year with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who is very reliable when it comes to being an Apple whisperer.

According to Kuo’s predictions, the new model will take cues from the iPhone 8 and will feature a 4.7-inch screen and will reportedly be powered by Apple’s A13 chip, the same chip in the current flagship model the iPhone 11. Another Bloomberg report which could confirm the cheaper model using the A13 Chip states that due to “higher-than-anticipated” Apple asked suppliers to increase processor output. This request could also mean that mass production for the cheaper iPhone will begin soon.

The device will reportedly not use Apple’s Face ID feature and instead opt for Touch ID built into the home button. Now, as far as the name, that is still up in the air, with most expecting Apple to call the device the iPhone SE 2. Outside of those who don’t like breaking the bank for smartphones, this cheaper model could help Apple gain ground on its competitor in developing nations where affordable Android devices reign supreme.

We will keep our ears to the tech streets on this one.

New “SurfingAttack” Can Hack Your Smartphone Using Ultrasonic Waves

"SurfingAttack" Usings Smartphones Voice Assistant To Share Sensitive Info

Source: South China Morning Post / Getty

Another reason to be paranoid about security regarding your smartphone. Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis have discovered a new way hackers can gain access to sensitive information stored in your phone just using ultrasonic waves and your phone’s voice assistant.

The new and very frightening method is effective from up to 30 feet away. It works by sending “inaudible voice commands” to your device through different solid surfaces like a table according to the full report issued by the researchers. So your phone is basically being attacked, and you can’t hear it happening at all.

“Using our proposed attack, SurfingAttack1 , we found that it is possible to deliver various inaudible voice commands in ultrasound to a wide range of target devices from different manufacturers via different solid media.”

The researchers set up multiple scenarios as part of their study using specialized tools like an ultrasonic generator to produce the signal, a piezoelectric transducer that turns the electric signals into physical vibrations, and a hidden microphone to listen to the voice assistants responses. With this setup, they demonstrated how sensitive information could be stoled from a targeted device.

In a video, researchers showed how they were able to get the phone to take a selfie, turn up the device’s volume and read the SMS messages. It’s some real spooky stuff. BUT they do point out that the person carrying out the attack will need specialized equipment to. So it would look clearly evident if you see someone sitting with the setup you know something is up, according to assistant professor Ning Zhang. But Zhang did warn that there are alternatives that could be used and that cyber thieves could start designing their own hardware.

“I don’t think we will see such an attack a lot in common places, but probably used for a more targeted attack. The signal generator can be expensive and bulky, but you can design your own hardware to generate certain signals … depending on how DIY you want to do. A cell phone will also do if bulkiness is the main problem.”

You can see how it works in the video below.

Rumors have been swirling about Apple’s entry-level iPhone model and now 9to5Mac is reporting that customers looking for a cheaper alternative to the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max are possibly getting just that.

According to the 9to5Mac, Apple is working on an “iPhone 9 Plus” model as well as a regular “iPhone 9” model according to several new details confirmed by iOS 14 code the website reports. The two new models will serve as an upgrade to its predecessors, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus and will give those customers an option without trying to break the bank.

As previously reported, the “iPhone 9” will feature a 4.7-inch screen, so if Apple stays true to the iPhone 8 Plus model, the “9 Plus” will feature a 5.5-inch screen. Both models will be powered by Apple’s A13 Bionic Chip which is currently found in the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. The phones will have a solid-state Home button, the same feature first introduced on the iPhone 7 and carried on to the iPhone 8.

Being that the “iPhone 9” and “iPhone 9 Plus” is an entry-level smartphone, both devices will use Touch ID instead of Face ID that is currently being used on higher-end models. Apple Pay and Express Transit will work on these new models, unlike some older iPhone models.

Another feature the new models will reportedly have is the ability to scan NFC tags in the background. That feature was previously only available on iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and the iPhone 11.

Now the name of the new device has not been confirmed and it’s being speculated that it will either be called the iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2. Barring any delay due to the coronavirus, 9to5Mac is forecasting a spring release alongside or after OS 13.4 arrives.

Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max Will Have A Bigger Camera Sensor & Sensor-Shift Stabilization: Report

We know, we know, you don’t want to hear anything about a new iPhone because you probably just copped that iPhone 11 Pro Max recently, but here we are.

According to our favorite Apple whisperer, Ming-Chi Kuo, when Apple unveils the iPhone 12 Pro Max sometime later this year, it will reportedly have Bigger Camera Sensor & Sensor-Shift Stabilization. If this is the case, this means not only will Apple’s next flagship smartphone have improved camera and photography options.

MacRumors reports that Apple’s new high-end 6.7-inch model will include large sensors that will allow for the capture of more light for improved image quality. Also coming is sensor-shift technology that will provide image stabilization for Ultra Wide lens on future iPhones.

Current iPhone 11 Pro models feature optical image stabilization for both photo and video but only when using the Wide or Telephoto lenses. With the addition of Sensor-Shift technology, stabilization could be added to the sensor itself and not just particular lenses.

If all of this pans out, this means the new iPhone will be on par with cameras, not smartphones.

Kuo is also suggesting that 2022’s iPhone model will have what he is calling a “periscope lens” with much better zoom capabilities.

Per MacRumors:

Kuo today also predicted that at least one 2022 iPhone model will feature a periscope lens, which could allow for 5x optical zoom like Huawei’s P30 Pro or even 10x optical zoom as is rumored for the device’s P40 Pro successor. iPhones currently max out at 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. Optical zoom preserves the quality of a shot when zooming in, while digital zoom results in some blurriness.

Kuo claims the periscope lens will be designed by Apple in partnership with Taiwanese supplier Genius Electronic Optical.

This latest news comes on the heels of Apple reportedly getting set to drop a cheaper iPhone model.

Apple's iPhone 12 Pro Max Design Leaks Online

In more Apple news, it looks like we have gotten our first peek at the company that Job’s built, forthcoming iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The news the Apple most likely didn’t want the world to know was revealed on the YouTube channel EverythingApplePro, and we get a physical render using a 3D-printed model. If the leak is indeed accurate, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, in fact, will be taking its cues from the iPad Pro and has been dubbed “the iPad Pro in the iPhone.” It will feature have a 6.7-inch display, the largest ever on an iPhone model.

The video also highlights the iPhone 12’s tri-camera system, which is rumored to have large sensors for better image quality and sensor-shift technology that will provide image stabilization for Ultra Wide lens on future iPhones. The iPhone 12 will also have a LIDAR scanner, a new Smart Connector, and will sport a much more square design like the older iPhone models before it.

Now keep in mind, this leak is based on a CAD (computer-aided design) and is only 70 percent complete. You can safely assume that this is indeed our best look at the next iPhone model, there is still more room for Apple to make changes to the design being that its not 100 percent final. It’s quite alarming such pertinent information like this somehow ended up on the net.

This leak follows Apple’s announcement of the second-generation iPhone SE model that only costs $399. You can watch the video breaking down the iPhone 12 Pro Max below.

“Hey Siri, I’m Getting Pulled Over’ Shortcut Instructs iPhone To Record Interactions With Police

'Hey Siri, I'm Getting Pulled Over" Shortcut Records Police Interactions

Source: Stratol / Getty

The smartphone camera has become the number one weapon when it comes to combating police brutality. A Siri shortcut now makes your iPhone even more essential during a police interaction.

If you didn’t know, there is a “Siri I’m getting pulled over” shortcut, and most importantly, it’s free. When you get stopped for driving while Black by 12, all you have to say is, “Hey Siri, I’m getting pulled over,” and your iPhone will automatically turn into a recording device. The shortcut will dim your phone, stop any music playing, and begin recording using the front-facing camera.

That’s not all it can do. It will also send a copy of the video as well as your current location to your listed emergency contact as proof of your interaction with law enforcement. You will just need to confirm a few pop-up messages.

The Siri shortcut isn’t new; in fact, it was developed and published back in 2018 by Robert Peterson. Following the fatal arrest of George Floyd, which has led to civil unrest in the form of peaceful protests around the globe, the shortcut has gained popularity again.

Speaking with Business Insider back in 2018, Peterson said the shortcut mainly works like the body cams police officers are supposed to use during every civilian interaction.

“It seemed to me that if you’re getting pulled over, it couldn’t hurt to have a recording of the incident. The police these days in many places have body cams, so this could be the civilian equivalent.”

If you want to add the shortcut to your iPhone, you won’t be able to just find it in the App Store, unfortunately. Instead, you will have to go to a website and download it directly. Here is how you can set up:

  • Make sure your iOS is updated to at least iOS 12.
  • Head to the App Store and download the Shortcut App.
  • Visit this link using the Safari browser (other browsers like Chrome won’t work) to set up the shortcut.
  • Make sure your phone can load unverified shortcuts (go to Settings > Shortcuts and toggle Allow Untrusted Shortcuts to allow this).
  • Finally, give the program access to your location, you can head here for instructions.

Once you have done all of that, you should be good to go. Unfortunately, this app won’t stop police brutality, but it should help in the fight in stopping it. Sorry Android users, there is no equivalent for you guys…yet.

Apple’s WWDC event was all about the software, of course, with a sprinkle of hardware news.

Like all of the other companies, Apple’s WWDC was moved online, but it still kept the same energy from the previous ones just minus the tech aficionados in the crowd. The company that Jobs built had a plethora of announcements to make mainly about its iOS operating system and one big hardware announcement that the company will be powering its devices with Apple chipsets.

So let’s get into the highlights from the event.

Apple Is Ditching Intel

Apple Announces It Will Be Ditching Intel & More During WWDC Event

Tim Cook finally confirmed his company’s long-rumored move from Intel’s x86 chip architecture for its own Apple chips inside new Macs. Before he sent online viewers to an undisclosed location where the Apple magic is happening, Cook spoke about three significant milestones in the tech giant’s history, the leap from PowerPC to Intel chips in 2006, the company’s transition to macOS X, and, of course, this latest big news. Now that the company makes its own ARM-based chipsets aptly called “Apple Silicon,” users can look forward to an “efficiency bump” in Apple’s computers. Plus, Apple will no longer have to wait on Intel’s updates to upgrade the capabilities of its devices.

The move to “Apple Silicon” will begin with the new Macs released later this year, and the entire transition should take no longer than two years.

Finally, iOS14 Makes Your iPhone More Customizable

Apple WWDC 2020

Source: Apple / Apple WWDC

The iPhone’s home screen is getting a much-needed refresh finally. With the arrival of iOS14 comes the new App Library, which will automatically organize your apps into a folder based on suggestions from Siri, app usage, and if the app was recently downloaded. The new App Library feature will make it easier for iPhone users to locate their apps without having to cycle through numerous pages. Widgets are also getting a makeover and can now be dragged from the widget panel to the home screen.

There is also a new Picture in Picture feature that allows you to continue to watch videos while you are multitasking on your phone. A feature iPhone users have been begging for a very long time. When you beckon Siri, the voice assistant will no longer take up the entire screen. Instead, it will occupy a small space located at the bottom of the screen. A new Translate App was also introduced that will reportedly give users the ability to hold conversations with people who speak other languages.

Last but certainly not least, your iPhone will now be able to unlock and start your car. During the presentation, Apple’s car experience engineering manager Emily Schubert demonstrated the new feature. Basically, instead of that big old-fashioned car key fob, there will be a digital key that will use the built-in NFC chip in the iPhone. Schubert previewed how it would work on the 2021 BMW 5 series unlocking it and then starting it by placing the iPhone on the charging pad. You will even be able to make copies of your digital key and share it with other people in iMessage, set restrictions for teen drivers, and turn off the key via the iCloud.

The feature will be available next month on the BMW, but Apple did say it is working with other car manufacturers also.

The iPad Takes Another Step To Become The New MacBook

The iPad is no longer just a giant iPhone, it’s becoming the MacBook replacement. With the introduction of its own operating system, iPadOS, and the sleek new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro, it’s no wonder it’s becoming more popular. iPadOS will also be getting much of the same features iOS 14 for iPhone is getting. The big difference is the introduction of the new sidebar menu that will be featured with the  Photos, Notes, Files, and Music apps and will help make navigation easier.

Incoming calls will no longer take up the whole screen. Instead, the phone call appears as a drop-down menu that doesn’t interrupt what you are doing and can be easily dismissed with a swipe.

The Apple Pencil is also getting a minor update thanks to a new  feature called “Scribble.” Basically, it will translate your handwriting into text, transform the bad shapes you draw into “ideal” ones.

Say Hello To MacOS Big Sur

MacBook and desktop users also have something to look forward to, MacOS Big Sur. Right off the bat, you can see it looks much cleaner than previous operating systems. Big Sur now brings a control center to Mac that will allow users to change settings like brightness and sound from the top right of the screen. The Notification Center gets a makeover, and the new iOS 14 widgets can be added to it.

The meager Messages app also gets updated and now will users to enjoy the features they love on their iPhone like Memoji, sticker packs, reactions, message effects, pinned conversations, a redesigned photo picker, and improved group conversations. Apple Maps is also getting an update, your favorite places are one click away, you can create your own guides and now use Apple’s Look Around feature which is the equivalent of Google Maps Street View.

The Apple Watch Now Monitors Your Sleeping Habits and Makes Sure You Wash Your Hands Properly

With WatchOS7, the Apple Watch finally gets sleep monitoring functionality. A new “Wind Down” routine is coming with the new WatchOS7 update. It will basically start preparing you for your set bedtime by dimming your phone and other actions, while you are sleeping, it will monitor your “micromovements” as you breathe, and has a variety of wake up alarms.

A handwashing feature is also coming as well. Your Apple Watch will be able to detect when you’re washing your hands and will begin a countdown. If you stop washing your hands before the timer hits zero, the timer stops and the watch lets you know you’re not finished. Other features coming incoming include new dance workouts, large font faces, a tachymeter, and new third-party and personalized watch faces.

The AirPods were not forgotten. Senior Firmware engineer Mary-Ann Ionascu announced that AirPod owners can now look forward to seamless device switching via a future software update. Instead of having to re-pair your AirPods with all of your Apple devices, the pods will automatically switch between them.

The AirPods Pro will finally be living up to its high price thanks to the addition of spatial audio. When the software update goes live, AirPods Pro will have the ability to use its internal accelerometers to create a faux-3D soundscape. Apple Has A Folding iPhone Protoype According To Multiple Reports

Many Apple enthusiasts called Samsung’s foldable smartphones a gimmick. A new report has surfaced hinting that the company that Jobs built is also getting in on the folding smartphone wave.

Economic’s Daily News first reported that Apple has a “folding prototype” Now, Bloomberg follows that up with a report stating that the company is prototyping folding screens and hopes to develop a phone with a “mostly invisible hinge.” According to the reports, Apple’s foldable device will open up to the size of an iPhone 12 Pro Max, and there are several different sizes being considered.

If this is indeed the case, Apple will be late to the foldable phone party that big tech companies like Samsung with its Galaxy Z Fold2 and Galaxy Z Flip, Motorola with its Razr reboot, LG and Huawei Technologies Co have already started. But with the popularity Apple has with its customers, we won’t be shocked if the foldable iPhone becomes an instant hit with those loyal to the brand when it is finally announced.

But, again, the phone hasn’t even left the prototype phase, so there is still a ways to go, and Apple is still currently looking at it’s next iPhone model, which the report indicates will only have “minimal updates,” so basically expect another S version of the version the iPhone this year.

Plus, COVID-19 has thrown a monkey wrench into Apple’s plans for making the phones due to the company having to stagger the workload and limit the number of workdays for Apple engineers to keep them safe. Most of the work is being shipped overseas to Apple engineers in China.

We are intrigued to see this foldable Apple iPhone.

iOS 14.5 Is Live, Lets You Unlock Your iPhone While Wearing A Mask But There Is A Catch

Here's How iOS 14.5 Allows You To Unlock Your iPhone While Wearing A Mask

Source: Apple / iOS 14.5

While mask-wearing keeps us safe and rona-free, it is a nuisance when it comes to unlocking our iPhones. Apple’s latest software update, iOS 14.5, rectifies that issue, but there is a catch.

Apple announced today that iOS 14.5 is rolling out for iOS and iPadOS and features a ton of improvements to its devices. The biggest one being the ability to unlock your phone without having to input the unlock code because of mask-wearing. Due to having to mask up throughout the day because, yes, we are still in a pandemic, unlocking your iPhone has become a chore, but no more, thanks to iOS 14.5 not requiring a Face ID match or passcode.

To utilize the feature, you have to own an Apple Watch, unfortunately, which is a bummer for those who don’t care for smartwatches or don’t care about Apple’s wearable. For it to work, you have to be wearing your Apple Watch before setting your iPhone to unlock automatically. You must also have watchOS 7.4 installed on your watch as well.

We still wished Apple’s iPhones had a  fingerprint scanner like Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G smartphone.

Another big feature is App Tracking Transparency which allows you to decide if an app can track your activity “across other companies’ apps and websites,” which is primarily used to hit with those creepy ads showcasing items you were looking at. Apple shared a video alongside the announcement of the new feature to explain how it works.

Facebook is BIG MAD and has called out Apple over App Tracking Transparency, claiming it gives “a false tradeoff between personalized ads and privacy.” The reality is Facebook makes a lot of money off app tracking, and this could significantly hurt  Facebook’s ad business.

There is plenty of other new quality of life improvements as well. iOS 14.5 includes tons of new emojis that focus on inclusivity.  The ability to watch Apple Fitness Plus workouts on a TV with AirPlay 2. You can now use the PS5 DualSense and Xbox Series X controller on your iPad and iPhone. Every iPhone 12 model will allow for 5G connectivity in the dual-SIM mode in more countries.

Last, when you turn on your iPhone for the first time, Siri’s voice will no longer be female by default. Instead, you will be able to choose your preferred voice while setting up your device.

The arrival of iOS 14.5 comes days after Apple announced a new iPad Pro model with the M1 chip, new IMac models, the next generation of Apple TV 4K, a purple iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini, and the AirTag.

Google Accuses Apple of Using iMessage To “Bully” People Into Buying iPhones

Google Claims Apple Is Using iMessage To "Bully" Into Buying iPhones

Source: Future Publishing / Getty

Yes, “blue bubble envy” is real, and Google feels Apple is capitalizing on it.

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Google is accusing the company that Steve Jobs built of “bullying” and using it as a deliberate strategy to make Android users look and feel like the bottom of smartphone users on its iMessage platform.

It’s no secret that iPhone users rub it in the faces of Android smartphone users that iMessage has a bunch of cool features while constantly clowning “green bubbles” they receive from text from an Android phone. The report states that Apple is well aware of this and is using the fact that its phone and messaging platform has become some sort of status symbol among smartphone users and is using it to its advantage to win over potential smartphone customers.

Following the release of the report, both the Android team and Google’s head of Android, Hiroshi Lockheimer, have responded to the matter. “iMessage should not benefit from bullying. Texting should bring us together, and the solution exists. Let’s fix this as one industry,” Android’s official Twitter account tweeted.

“Apple’s iMessage lock-in is a documented strategy. Using peer pressure and bullying as a way to sell products is disingenuous for a company that has humanity and equity as a core part of its marketing. The standards exist today to fix this,” Locheimer said on the social media platform.

The Verge reports that Apple at one point did consider making iMessage available on Android devices but ultimately decided not to with Apple executive Phil Schiller would “hurt us more than help us.” Craig Federighi, another Apple executive, kept it all the way real, stating, “iMessage on Android would simply serve to remove [an] obstacle to iPhone families giving their kids Android phones.”

While Google does have a point, we have to point out the company would benefit immensely from Apple making iMessage available on Android phones. The Verge also reports that Google has been pushing Apple to support RCS messaging, which is poised to replace SMS and already has the support of other major US carriers.

We are interested to see how this plays out, the smartphone wars are honestly ridiculous, with plenty of reports touching on the sad fact iPhone users are snubbing potential partners because they use Android-based smartphones.

You hate to see it.

iPhone 14 Models Unveiled By Apple, Twitter Reacts To The News

Source: Apple / iPhone 14

As expected, Apple followed up Samsung’s event with its usual September event to introduce to the world and devoted followers to its new lineup of iPhone 14 flagship smartphones. The company that jobs built also announced two new Apple Watch models and the new AirPods Pro.

iPhone 14 & iPhone 14 Plus

If your current iPhone is glitching, that only means new models are on the way. Today during its latest “Far Out” event, Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models. If you already own an iPhone 13, this new model isn’t going to blow you away at all with its features.

Coming in at $799, it runs on the same A15 system-on-chip from the previous model, but thanks to a 5-core GPU, Apple has managed to improve the iPhone 14’s performance. The camera system on iPhone 14 gets a slight bump because of its bigger sensor for better night photography, but it remains a 12-megapixel.

Apple iPhone 14

Source: Apple / iPhone 14 Pro

The iPhone 14 Plus is a poor man’s version of the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which we will touch on in a few. It’s a slightly bigger version of the iPhone 14 with a 6.7-inch screen and larger battery, but the features are just about the same. Both phones have Apple’s new Crash Detection and Emergency SOS technology and come in midnight, blue, starlight, purple, and (PRODUCT)RED finishes.

The sim card tray will also be removed on US models of the iPhone 14.

iPhone 14 Pro & iPhone 14 Pro Max

Apple iPhone 14

Source: Apple / iPhone 14 Pro

Of course, there would be a Pro and Pro Max model. What stands out is the fact that both models this year cost $999 and $1,099, killing the rumor that Apple was planning on raising the price by $100. That’s also pretty impressive due to the 14 Pro and Pro Max sporting Apple’s 4-nanometer A16 Bionic chipset and boasting a 48MP main camera.

The signature is gone and has been replaced by what Apple is calling Dynamic Island, where animations and notifications where now live at the top of your phone.

Apple Watch Ultra

Apple Watch Ultra

Source: Apple / Apple Watch Ultra

Apple’s long-rumored high-end watch has finally been confirmed. The only difference it will not be called the Apple Watch Pro but will be known as the Apple Watch Ultra. The watch is geared toward more active individuals who enjoy activities like water sports, deep sea diving, and trail hiking and is more “rugged” than your typical Apple Watch.

It comes in a 49mm size, boasts twice the battery life, and has precise GPS tracking. Also, surprisingly the Apple Watch Pro only costs $799, and not the rumored $999 price tag.

Apple Watch Series 8

For those who don’t need a watch to go deep sea diving with, there is the Apple Watch Series 8. Starting at $399, the Series 8 features a temperature sensor to help women with reproductive planning and monitoring. The Apple Watch Series 8 now has a low-power mode to help your smartwatch last longer.

New AirPods Pro

Apple New AirPod Pro

Finally, a new pair of AirPods Pro for you to misplace and have to replace are coming. The $249 wireless buds now boast Apple’s H2 chip and low distortion mode audio driver, and custom amplifier to provide better sound. You will also be able to use the front-facing camera to help create a customized spatial audio profile.

Battery life has been increased to six hours of playback, and active noise cancellation has been improved on the second-generation AirPods Pro.

So what is the internet saying about Apple’s slate of devices and wearables? It’s the usual jokes and observations. You can peep those in the gallery below.

62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Chris Brown has just given his critics another reason to call him out. He recently threw a fan’s phone after bringing her on stage.

As spotted on Page Six the Virginia Beach, Virginia native is currently on tour to support his most recent album Breezy. During his stop in Berlin, Germany he invited a lucky fan on stage for a very intimate performance of “Take You Down.” While it is safe to say she was the envy of every other female in the house, the woman didn’t seem to be truly living in the moment. She soon pulled out her phone to record the moment. But Chris Brown politely took the phone out of her hands and sat it on her lap so she can enjoy the once in a lifetime experience.

But as Chris Brown started to dance around her, she grabbed the device yet again and that’s when things went left. He then took her phone and threw it into the arena which caused the crowd to go wild. The unidentified woman seemed to be turned off by his reaction when she threw her hands up in the air in a sign of frustration. At that moment, the lights were shut off and she was escorted away from the stage.

Luckily, she received her phone back. But there is no telling if it was damaged or not. As expected, the incident was caught on film, and the clip quickly went viral. While his fans defended Brown saying that the gesture of the private dance went unappreciated, others claimed that the move was totally uncalled for.

You can see the footage below.

Right in time for spring, Apple has unveiled its brightest-looking modern smartphone ever with the announcement of the yellow iPhone 14.

While being a technical marvel, Apple’s iPhone is also boring. Let’s keep it a buck. It’s a device that doesn’t scream personalization, but Apple is trying to give its customers a device that speaks for them and stands out.

Tuesday, March 7, the company that Jobs built pulled the cover off its new iPhone 14 and 14 Plus model in a bright yellow color. Sorry Pro lovers, you won’t be able to partake in this action.

Apple dropping a new color for its iPhone around this time of the year is nothing new. Customers in 60 countries, including the US, UK, and Canada, can preorder the device beginning March 10, 8 AM Eastern Time. The phone officially drops on March 14 alongside new colors for the popular silicone case, including a canary yellow version.

This is not the first time Apple released a device in this color. The 5c. Came in a bright yellow option. The iPhone 11 also had a similar color finish though it was on the paler side. Apple fans could only look forward to the customary Product RED model for the more modern models if they wanted something bold, and that was until now.

As far as the specs, nothing is changing on that end. Both options still cost $799 and $899.

Well, one thing is for sure: it definitely is lit.

Leak On Apple’s Website Reveals New iPhones

Apple Leaks confirm three new iPhone Models

Source: JOSH EDELSON / Getty

Apple is heavily rumored to unveil new models of its uber-popular iPhone model today (Sept. 12) but a recent link on its own website might have knocked the wind out of their sails.

Not even Apple is safe from leaks apparently, and they have no one to blame but themselves for this apparent gaffe. The accidental slippage of information that would probably have the late Steve Jobs stark raving mad was spotted by website Allthings.now in Apples own XML files nonetheless. The Verge followed that up by discovering references to a new iPhone model the iPhone XR inside the AppleCare section.

Apple has since removed the information, but there is this wonderful tool called a screenshot and images of the files and handsets are now all over Twitter.

Yikes, the leaks also confirmed the rumored all-screen Apple Watch 40mm and 44mm models as well as adding more insult to injury for the company who is usually pretty good at keeping things close to the vest.

While these leaks do take away the joy from the reveals, we still don’t know if these are the exact specs and details when it comes to these new devices. So we will even have to tune in to Apple’s live event to learn precisely which model is which. So we will take the leaks with a grain of salt but won’t be surprised if in fact the images floating around of the new models is in fact true.

Apple could also still have a few tricks up its sleeves as well, the leaks also hint at Apple opting not to unveil its new iPad Pro models but that could change now. We also could finally see a new low-cost MacBook Pro model as well. Whatever the case, despite this information coming out early it won’t stop excited iPhone users from purchasing Apple’s latest phones and devices regardless.

FaceTime Bug Turns iPhones Into Surveillance Devices, Cheaters & Conspiracy Theorist Are Shook

iPhone Users React To Apple's FaceTime Glitch On Twitter

Source: Chesnot / Getty

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook is a champion for iPhone owners privacy, but a bug affecting the device’s FaceTime video chat feature that turns the smartphone into a spying tool is shaping up to be the company’s biggest fail yet.

Steve Jobs is screaming from the Apple Store in the sky.

Monday (Jan 28) iPhone owners had Twitter buzzing after 9to5Mac reported the major FaceTime glitch that affects recently added group addition that no one really wanted that much. The hack allows a user to listen to another user and even hack the front-facing camera without recipient of FaceTime call even answering their phone turning the smartphone into a spying device.

The glitch affects any pair of devices running  iOS 12.1 or later and Apple is well aware of the issue and has disabled the Group FaceTime feature and in a statement said:

“We’re aware of this issue, and we have identified a fix that will be released in a software update later this week.”

To be on the safe side iPhone owners are being urged to turn off the FaceTime option by simpling going into the phone’s settings and disabling it until that update comes. This privacy fail is not the start Apple was looking for who is about to report possibly disappointing financial numbers. The glitch is so bad even New York Governor, Andrew M. Cuomo urged New Yorkers to disable the feature and stated:

“The FaceTime bug is an egregious breach of privacy that puts New Yorkers at risk.”

As you can imagine iPhone users and conspiracy theorists had thoughts on the matter. You can peep the fallout in the gallery below.

Fix For Group FaceTime Bug Released By Apple, We’re Still Suspicious Though

Apple Releases Fix For Group FaceTime Bug

Source: JOSH EDELSON / Getty

Group FaceTime, the update nobody asked for was plagued by a bug that turned the iPhone into a surveillance device. After cheaters and women with keen detective skills reacted from the eye-opening discovery, Apple has finally released a fix for the issue.

The tech giant released iOS 12.1.4 yesterday (Feb. 7) to address the glaring issue their smartphones were suffering from. Initially, to combat the bug, Apple turned off Group FaceTime and urged customers to turn off the feature on features by going in their phone’s settings. If you are one of those who missed the function and in dire need of it, you have to update your phone because in the current iOS 12.1.3 or earlier builds it will remain disabled.

Apple is not out of the woods yet as this bug has caught the attention of the Government. The House Energy and Commerce Committee is now requesting the company reveal what it knew about the bug when a 14-year-old boy and his mom discovered the issued before the public learned about it. The committee also wants the answer to that question by February 19th, so the clock is ticking.

Apple is making a killing in its wearable department thanks to the growing popularity of AirPods and the Apple Watch, but the iPhone is losing its flare. This bug doesn’t help matters going into the new year with iPhone users suspicious about the devices that pretty much play a significant role in their everyday lives, and we don’t blame them one bit. With the arrival of the fix does this restore your confidence in Group FaceTime? Or will it stay off even after you update your phone? Let us know in the comment section below.

Report Details How These iOS Apps Are Recording Your Screen While You Use Them

iOS apps records screens during use

Source: Chesnot / Getty

As if we need another reason not to trust using our iPhones. Reports from TechCrunch and The App Analyst detail how certain iOS apps are recording your screen while you use them.

Typically when an app tells you that it’s collecting data for technical support or analytics, we think it’s no big deal. According to the eye-opening report the apps belonging to Air Canada, Abercrombie & Fitch, Expedia, Hotels.com, and others used analytics software from a company called Glassbox that utilizes “session replay” tech that unknowingly records screens showing them exactly how the app is being used by users.

Every button push, every piece of information that is entered by the user is recorded by the software and yes even sensitive information like your credit card numbers. There are features to prevent that critical info from showing but the scary part is that the function did not block out all of that info.

If you still find this hard to believe, The App Analyst used a man-in-the-middle software to intercept the data going to Glassbox servers and recorded it while using Air Canada’s app displaying how easily your user passwords and credit card info is collected and recorded.

The practice isn’t only exclusive to iOS apps. Gizmodo reported that some Android apps also have screen recording software embed built-in as well. The company behind this case, Appsee boasts its screen capturing capabilities to software developers. While the companies seem to be on top of what is being recorded this is definitely worrisome behavior with the rash of huge date leaks happening as of late.

If you have second thoughts now when opening up your favorite app, it’s totally understandable.

AirPods 2 Reportedly Will Feature Insanely Fast Wireless Charging Case

AirPods 2 Will Come With Super Fast Wireless Charging Case, Report

Source: Stephen Lam / Getty

Apple’s long-rumored second generation AirPods might come with a feature the company promised for some time now. According to rumors, the tentatively named AirPods 2 will feature a wireless charging case that achieves a full charge in 15-minutes.

The case along with the AirPower mat was promised by Apple with the announcement of the iPhone X. Leaker Max Weinbach who doesn’t really have a great track record when it comes to his rumors drop the news about the AirPods 2 on his Twitter account. He states “wireless charging will happen” and will apply to both the case and the AirPods.

The case will be able to achieve this “super fast wireless charging” by utilizing Qi coils, the technology that can already be found in Apple’s iPhone 8, X, XS, XS Max, and XR smartphones. While this is a huge improvement from generation 1’s current 3-hour battery life after a 15-minute charge, there are some downsides. Weinbach reports that the case will be “bigger in one direction and heavier,” fans should not be worried though.

The new case will also have a new look going for a more matte look ditching the glossy look taking cues from the Apple Pencil 2. Weinbach says we can expect the AirPower and AirPods 2 wireless charging tech to be released in the next few months. Keep in mind Samsung is dropping their new Galaxy Buds with a wireless charging case on Friday (March 8), alongside its family of new Galaxy smartphones, so they are well ahead of the curve in this field.

Apple Credit Card Reactions

Source: Michael Short / Getty

Today’s Apple Event might have been about it’s new plus subscription services specifically on its TV steaming one but its new Apple Credit Card coming this summer that literally stole the show.

Adding your credit and debit card to the iPhone’s Apple Wallet app is already a thing but the tech company is going to the next level and wants to help you get your financial life together with its new card which is built into the app.

Through Apple Wallet, lucky Apple Cardholders will be able to manage every financial detail keeping track of their purchases via trends and pay your bill. iPhone owners will be able to sign up for the card instantly on their phones and can update their personal information via iMessage. What really stood out is the fact there are no late, annual or international fees, that’s right we said NO FEES, daily 2% cash rewards on all of your purchases, it goes up to 3% on when you purchase Apple Products and very low-interest rate.

The card will be virtual, but for those places that don’t accept virtual cc’s, there will be a physical card option as well. The titanium Magnises inspired card will have your name laser inscribed on it and will have no card number, CVV security code, expiration date or signature on it making it more secure than any card on the planet.

As you can imagine the internet reacted, AirPod owners are making sure their credit scores are good so they can flex even harder, scammers are coming together to figure out how to crack this code and more. Hit the gallery below to see Twitter’s reaction to Apple/Goldman Sachs new credit card that looks curb credit card fraud altogether.

Like We Always Do At This Time : Apple Announces iPhone 15 Event

Is your iPhone tripping out? If so, you know what that means. It’s that time of the year when Apple announces a new iPhone model.

The invites for the upcoming Apple Event called “Wonderlust” are live, and it’s all happening on September 12th at 1 PM ET / 10 AM PT. According to speculation, the tech giant is showing off its worst-kept secret, the iPhone 15 and a new Apple Watch model.

The event will take place at Apple Park in Cupertino, and the Apple logo on the invite, gray, blue, and black, could serve as a tease to the iPhone 15s device’s colors.

If this upcoming event serves as the coming out party for the iPhone 15, it will most certainly take centerstage during the presentation. The Verge reports the forthcoming standard and plus models will look like their predecessors, with some design upgrades in critical areas.

Per The Verge:

The notch at the top of the screen will apparently be replaced by the Dynamic Island that first appeared in the iPhone 14 Pro lineup. The Lightning port might also be replaced by a USB-C port, which could enable faster charging.

As for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, those phones might have some bigger changes. Those higher-end phones are rumored to get titanium frames, thinner bezels, big camera improvements, and, like the base iPhone 15s, USB-C ports.

The website also reports with those “improvements,” Apple fans should expect a price bump. How significant the price increase will be remains a mystery.

A New Apple Watch Model Is On The Way

According to The Verge, Apple will also dedicate some time to its new Apple Watch Series 9, It will reportedly feature 41- and 45-millimeter screens and a new model of its costly Apple Watch Ultra model.

We can’t wait to see Apple reinvent the wheel like it always does every year.

The devil works hard, but Tim Cook and Apple work harder to get your money every year. The company that Steve Jobs built announced its new lineup of iPhone 15 smartphones and two new Apple Watches.

Apple is back, and you already know the company came with “its most powerful iPhone model yet.” We hear that same old line every year and take it at face value because, for the most part, it’s not complete CAP coming out of the mouths of Cook and the iPhone development team.

So, let’s dive into the new iPhone 15 smartphone lineup.

Apple iPhone 15 & 15 Plus

iPhone 15 & 15 Pro

Source: Apple / iPhone 15 & 15 Plus

Yes, the Apple iPhone 15 and 15 Plus come in a new design, some new colors, and a new, more powerful camera. The most significant change has to be the USB-C port, which now means that you can use the same charger for all of your Apple devices, allowing Apple to catch up with Android phones, which had this feature since 2017.

Dynamic Island, you know that fancy notification tab introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro last year returns in the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.

The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will come in two sizes, 5.7-inch and 6.1-inch, and five color options, and for this year’s design, Apple has embedded the color into the glass so it won’t look off-color anymore.

iPhone 15 & 15 Pro

Source: Apple / iPhone 15 & 15 Pro

As for the camera, the most essential part of the iPhone, the 15 gets a bump with a 48MP primary sensor that Apple says will make photos more detailed.

A neural engine under the hood will enhance every photo you snap, giving you higher-resolution shots. There is also a 12MP telephoto lens with an automatic zoom feature, which will work great for those who love using their iPhone to capture videos.

Machine learning will help the camera recognize precisely what you’re taking a photo of so the camera can optimize to take the perfect picture of your subject.

An A16 chip allows the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus to do all of these wonderful things, and it has been optimized to give the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus better battery life.

A new second-generation ultra wideband chip allows users to find their devices if lost and locate their friends in crowded places. This could be worrisome if abused by the wrong people, so hopefully, Apple provides some safeguards.

The emergency satellite program has also been upgraded, and it can now contact AAA if you find yourself stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max

Source: Apple / iPhone 15 Pro & 15 Pro Max

The higher-end 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max now come in a Titanium casing, which is more lightweight and durable than ever. The bezels have been trimmed, giving you more screen to look at than previous iPhone models.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max come in two sizes, 6.1 inches for the Pro and 6.7, and is the first model to get rid of the ring/silent switch and replace it with a new programmable action button.

Both devices are powered by a new A17 Pro chip built on a 3NM manufacturing process, which is the first of its kind. Thanks to the A17 Pro, the iPhone 15 Pro has a USB 3.0 controller that will allow for faster charging and transfers, allowing the smartphone to do more, like being tethered to a laptop while being used to capture photos during a photoshoot.

Apple has been making a solid push to become a destination for gaming, and that continues to be the case because the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max feature Ray Tracing, allowing users to play AAA titles like Resident Evil 4 Remake and Resident Evil Village on their mobile devices.

The Pro GPU in the device also allows it to handle more intense video work easily.

iPhone 15 Pro & 15 Pro Max

As for the camera, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max have a Quad-Sensor camera that allows you to shoot in 48MP Raw. Thanks to Apple’s Computational Photography, both devices can shoot high-resolution 24MP photos and, with the help of machine learning, can be optimized and upscaled to a higher resolution.

You can order The iPhone 15 Pro on September 22, starting at $999 for the iPhone 15 Pro and $1,199 for the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Could Be A Mobile Game-Changer

Apple is making strides in gaming, but its latest smartphone, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, might be the most significant step into becoming a major player in video games.

The iPhone 15 has many new features, making it Apple’s in our best Tim Cook voice – “the most powerful iPhone” ever. You can usually take that line with a grain of salt. Still, this year’s iteration of the ridiculously popular smartphone could be what Cook claims each version to be during his Apple Events, and it has nothing to do with the phone’s camera system.

During Tuesday’s Apple Wanderlust Event, we learned Apple’s USB-C struggle has come to an end; shoutout to the EU for making that happen, but, honestly, Apple ditching its ridiculous charging methods overshadowed what was the biggest news of the Apple Event, the iPhone 15 was Apple telling the world “hey we are serious player in the world of video games.

Apple’s Methodical Entry Into The Gaming Space

Apple is slowly but surely making its presence felt in the gaming space, and that’s thanks in large part to its new Apple Silicon program. The company that Jobs built has been working hard to move away from Intel chips and start making its own.

The latest version of the Macbook and Mac desktops was the company telling video game developers like Capcom that their computers are fully capable of running their most demanding video games. We saw it firsthand at a preview event last year and walked away very impressed at what we saw.

Quiet as kept, Apple wasn’t done and revealed its new Titanium iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max smartphones can run games graphically demanding games like the remake of Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Village, or Death Stranding without a hitch.

The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are powered by Apple’s A17 Pro, which the company boasts is the industry’s “first 3-nanometer chip.”

The A17 Pro Bionic Pro Is A Gamechanger

The A17 Pro brings improvement across the board, featuring the biggest GPU redesign in the company’s long history. The pro-class GPU is up to 20 percent faster paired with a new 6-core design, bringing new experiences to longtime iPhone users.

One of those experiences to the iPhone experience will be Ray Tracing, which Apple says will allow its newest premium smartphone to run those games at smooth 30 frames per second without any issues.

The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus utilize the A16 Bionic Chipset and offer Ray Tracing capabilities, but it’s clear that Apple is focusing more on the new A17 Pro and its capabilities.

Of course, the iPhone is a little tardy to the party because other smartphones, like Samsung’s latest Galaxy Smartphone lineup, are also competent mobile gaming devices that can run demanding games. Still, with Apple’s iPhone 15, it could become more of a mainstream thing because of the popularity of the device.

The company has tried to lure in its base with things like Apple Arcade and the recent updates to the Mac, but it can win in the gaming space with the iPhone because damn near everyone has one.

We shall see if this will pan out for Cook and Co., but it’s starting to look like more video game developers are getting on board with the idea that Apple is becoming a significant player in the gaming space.

The sports app game has a new competitor as Apple has announced the launch of their Apple Sports app for iPhone users.

As millions have gotten accustomed to keeping up with the latest happenings in sports on their smartphones and other devices, Apple is now giving them another option with a brand-new application. On Wednesday (Feb. 21), the global technology brand announced the launch of Apple Sports, a new application for the iPhone. Apple Sports is now available for users in the United States and the United Kingdom as well as Canada. There is no expected date for a global release yet.

“We created Apple Sports to give sports fans what they want — an app that delivers incredibly fast access to scores and stats,” said Eddy Cue, the senior vice president of services for Apple. The app, which is free to download and install, gives users real-time access to game scores, team stats, betting odds and more data. The NBA, NHL, NCAA basketball, and the Premier League are supported within the app, as well as Major League Soccer, Bundesliga, LaLiga, Liga MX, Ligue 1 and Serie A. According to the press release, there will be support for the NFL, WNBA, Major League Baseball, the NWSL and NCAA college football for their upcoming seasons.

Apple Sports users will be able to have their team interests synced with their Apple ID and other apps to help personalize their Apple TV and Apple News experiences. This option can also be turned off. Users can also customize the scoreboards found in the app, get lineup details for teams, and switch to other information for games and other streaming services to check out their teams there. Concerning the betting odds, which are supplied by DraftKings, a representative for Apple said that the app doesn’t support live betting, however, and so there is no revenue-share agreement in place between the two companies.

The news comes as Major League Soccer is beginning another season. Through Apple TV, they offer a season pass at $14.99 per month and $99 for the whole season. They also began to show MLB games in a “Friday Night Baseball” package back in 2022, which was the core of its 10-year broadcasting deal with the league. The move is also sure to boost Apple’s Services division revenue, which came in at $22.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2023.
